Please join us as we celebrate the publication of this important new book by Wendy Murphy.
As Ms. Murphy wrote last month in her Author's Note to introduce her book; . . .
"In 2020, the thirty-eighth state ratified the ERA, but it was not added to the Constitution because the Trump and Biden administrations blocked it, claiming it was not valid because a ratification deadline had expired years earlier. Many scholars disagree and believe that the ERA is valid because the purported deadline is invalid."
. . .
"This book will demonstrate why the ERA is more important than ever in 2022, not only for women but also for American Democracy. Maintaining half the population in second-class citizenship is unconscionable and unsustainable. Most importantly this book will reveal never-before published information about the ways that seeming supporters of the ERA, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, worked against the cause while claiming to be fighting for it. This will be difficult for some to accept, but it is critically important that women embrace the discomfort that comes from knowing that our leaders betrayed us. By thinking critically about who we support, and why, we can more effectively mobilize politically as women and establish our full and unmitigated equality under the United States Constitution once and for all."
